The last few months have been challenging for Ilkeston but the community has pulled through starting up many great initiatives and schemes to support the vulnerable and struggling residents of Ilkeston. County Councillors Robert Flatley and Tony King have supported various community projects over
Cllr Linda Grooby with her grandson in our fabulous playground in the Pavilion Gardens which is open again at last. These gardens have been beautifully maintained throughout the lockdown providing a delightful place to walk for our residents.
Jean Wharmby, Derbyshire County Councillor for Glossop and Charlesworth has donated a grant of £500 from her member's community leadership fund to support Mentell and their work during the COVID-19 lockdown.
Cllr Linda Grooby is delighted to have made a donation from her community fund to the local gardening club for children. The club now has 270 members and the grant has given children and their parents a new opportunity during lockdown. Such a lovely Idea.
It has been my pleasure to donate £1500 from my Derbyshire County Council community fund towards these marquees at Buxton Junior School. This will enable all the children to come into school to spend some time with the teachers whilst still remaining socially distant.
Cllr Carol Hart has supported local community organisations in her division with £700 of members' community leadership funding to help them carry on their excellent work during lockdown.
After concerns raised by residents and local businesses in Belper, County Councillors Chris Short and David Taylor worked with colleagues at Derbyshire County Council Highways to remove temporary bollards that had been placed to encourage better social distancing for Belper residents but had beco
