Carol was first elected on to Derbyshire County Council in 2005, representing the Breadsall/West Hallam Division which includes Little Eaton, Breadsall, Morley, Stanley, Stanley Common, West Hallam, Dale Abbey and a small piece of Kirk Hallam.  When Conservatives took control of the County Council in 2009, Carol was asked to take on the position of Cabinet Member for Communities, half way through the 4 year term Public Health came back in into local authority control and the cabinet post was changed to Cabinet Member for Public Health and Communities.   Between 2013 and 2017, Carol then served on the Improvement and Scrutiny Committee, the Standards Committee and also acting as shadow cabinet member for Public Health & Communities. In 2017 Carol was once again asked to take on the role of Cabinet Member for Public Health & Communites

Carol also represents West Hallam, Stanley Common, Dale Abbey at Erewash Borough Council where she holds the position of Leader of the Council and just to make sure she remains very local, she continues to serve on West Hallam Parish Council and is the present chairman.  Not much time for hobbies but a long time season ticket holder at Derby County.
