We're asking you to let us know your top three local roads that you think should be resurfaced. We'll then put these forward for works if they're not already on the list.
After a few years of extreme weather which has damaged our roads, we know there are lots of repairs to be done. So, we're fighting for the proper investment we need to make our roads fit for the future. So far, the new Labour Government have said a lot of warm words on potholes, but have then cut highways grant funding for Derbyshire this year and pulled the plans for longer term certainty and increases around roads funding. So, we're campaigning for the money we need to be able to do more resurfacing that lasts.
But, as local Conservatives, we're also the ones actually getting on with the job too. We're trialling new materials and technologies (like pothole repairs which include a high rubber content) and, despite that cut in funding, we've invested locally to do a record programme of resurfacing this year. We've also moved focus onto resurfacing, even just of hotspot areas, so that we're not chasing the next pothole.
There's lots more to be done, but we're the only party who have a proper plan to fix our roads for good.
